After a Black female candidate in the 2007 Ontario Provincial Election was called a "Tar Baby" twice in a Hamilton Newspaper article and then the reporter stated that she was a candidate because they didn't want to run a "bland white male", I was left in a state of shock. She was repeatedly attacked by newspaper reporters and even though her family has resided in Hamilton for over 150 years she was painted as an outsider.(she is even the great niece of John C. Holland, Hamilton's citizen of the year in 1953) It was appalling to say the least. Barack Obama should not feel alone when attacked by the "Jim Crow" media. I hope Nerene Virgin attends the book launch. She would have much to discuss with those in attendance! I am very much looking forward to reading this book.
